== Funktion ==<br />
Der '''Schalter F18 (Thermoschalter für Lüfter)''' überwacht bei allen T4 die Temperatur im [[Kühlmittelsystem]] direkt am [[Kühler]] und schaltet bei zu hoher Temperatur die [[Lüfter]] über das bzw. die [[Lüfterrelais]] in Stufe 1 oder 2, um eine bessere Kühlung des [[Kühlmittelkreislauf]]es zu gewährleisten. Bei den 4-Zylindermotoren [[1X]] und [[PD]] schaltet er ausstattungsabhängig die Versorgungsspannung direkt auf die [[Lüfter]].<br />

Es handelt sich um einen in einem Gehäuse zusammengefassten 2-fach-Schalter, wobei die beiden Schalter unterschiedliche Schalttemperaturen haben. Diese sind:<br />
* Stufe 1:<br />
** Ein: 84 - 89°C<br />
** Aus: 76 - 83°C<br />
* Stufe 2:<br />
** Ein: 90 - 95°C<br />
** Aus: 82 - 89 <br />
<br />
Darüber hinaus gibt es noch einen Doppelthermoschalter mit ca. 6°C niedrigeren Schalttemperaturen für den Einsatz in warmen Klimazonen und für [[AHK]], der aber ev. nur beim [[AAB]] verbaut wurde.<br />

Bei T4 mit [[Klimaanlage]] ist zusätzlich der [[Schalter F165 (Thermoschalter für Lüfter Stufe 3)]] verbaut, der die [[Lüfter]] bei Bedarf in die Stufe 3 schaltet.<br />

Achtung: in den Schaltbildern muss es natürlich F18 statt F38 heißen.<br />

Bei vielen 4-Zylindermotor Modellen (ausstattungsabhängig und ggf. nur bei [[MJ]]1995) schaltet F18 die Spannungsversorgung direkt auf die [[Lüfter]]; in Stufe 1 über einen im [[Lüfter]] integrierten [[Vorwiderstand]].<br />

Vorsicht: es gibt baujahr- und ausstattungsabhängige Unterschiede bei der Benennung der Steckerkontakte und bei den Kabelfarben, weswegen die nachfolgenden Schaltbilder nur einen mehr oder weniger groben Anhalt geben können.<br />
